Russia's McDonald's restaurants have reopened with a new name, logo, and menu.
Vkusno & tochka, which translates as "tasty and that's it," opened 15 stores in and around Moscow on Sunday, including what was formerly McDonald's flagship Russian restaurant in the city's Pushkin Square.
Alexander Govor, a Russian businessperson, bought Russia's McDonald's restaurants after the burger giant quit the country following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Govor said he plans to reopen all McDonald's roughly 850 Russian restaurants by the end of the summer.
"We don't have the right to use some colors, we don't have the right to use the golden arches, we don't have the right to use any mention of McDonald's," Govor told Reuters.
There aren't any Big Macs or McFlurrys on Vkusno & tochka's menu, although Govor said: "The Big Mac is the story of McDonald's. We will definitely do something similar."
Some former McDonald's items weren't immediately available because of logistical difficulties, and trade restrictions mean dishes will likely change, Oleg Paroev, CEO of Vkusno & tochka, said, per The Wall Street Journal. For one, Coca-Cola's decision to suspend sales in Russia has left Vkusno & tochka seeking new soft-drink suppliers, Reuters reported.
However, the burgers on sale at Vkusno & tochka contain the same ingredients and are made with the same equipment as was the case under the McDonald's brand, Alexander Merkulov, Vkusno & tochka's quality manager, said, per Reuters.
